Do you live and work in Maryland and want to pay less in taxes and get money back from the government?
drawQuickFacts("
What is it?
Maryland also offers a tax credit for working families. If you qualify for the Federal EITC and live in Maryland, you also qualify for the Maryland EITC. The Maryland EITC is worth 20%-50% of the Federal EITC.
What do I get?
If you qualify for the Federal EITC and claim it on your tax return, you may qualify for the Maryland EITC equal to 50% of the Federal credit. This will either reduce or eliminate the amount of state tax that you owe.
However, if 50% of your Federal EITC is greater than your Maryland tax and you have at least one
qualifying child, you may also be eligible for a refundable EITC, which may allow you to get more money back from Maryland than you owe in taxes.
How long do I get it?
You can get this once each year when you file your tax return.");
