Do your children need health insurance?

Quick Facts
What is it?
Maryland Children's Health Plan (MCHP) provides health insurance for pregnant woman and children under age 19.

If you do not qualify for free medical care from MCHP, you may qualify for MCHP Premium. MCHP Premium recipients pay $46 - $58 per month to cover the family. The amount of the premium is based on your household income.

What do I get?
Free or low-cost health coverage including:
  • In-patient hospital care
  • Doctor visits
  • Lab tests
  • Dental care
  • Eye care
  • Medicines
  • Immunizations
  • Substance abuse treatment
  • Mental health services
  • Transportation to health services
How long do my children get it?
Your children can get MCHP as long as they still qualify but you may need to recertify, which means that you'll need to show the MCHP office that your children still qualify. You'll get a notice in the mail when you need to recertify.
