Purchase of Child Care Subsidy Program (POC)

Do you need help paying for child care?

Quick Facts
What is it?
Purchase of Child Care (POC) is a Maryland state program that helps families who are working, in job training, or in public school pay for early childhood and school-age care. POC is for children under age 13 (or under age 18 if they have special needs).

What do I get?
Help paying your child care costs. Payments are sent directly to your child care provider. The amount of support and your expected contribution will depend on your income and household size. You can choose the child care provider you want but the provider must be licensed, registered or approved by the state. POC can also help you find a provider if you do not have one.

How long do I get it?
You can get POC as long as you still qualify. You will have to recertify after 1 year. When it's time to recertify, you'll get a letter in the mail. You must respond to this letter or your benefits will end.
